Because kids have big emotions, too!
Play therapy offers numerous benefits for both children and parents by providing a safe and supportive environment for emotional expression and healing. For children, it facilitates communication and self-discovery through play, allowing them to process feelings, resolve conflicts, and develop coping skills in a non-threatening way. This therapeutic approach can help address behavioral issues, anxiety, and trauma, which fosters emotional resilience. For parents, play therapy enhances understanding of their child's emotional world, improving parent-child relationships, and equipping them with strategies to support their child's development. Overall, play therapy promotes emotional well-being and strengthens family bonds, making it a valuable resource for families navigating challenges.
Taking the first step into individual therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re new to the process or feeling apprehensive. Individual therapy is a safe and supportive space designed to help explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without judgment. It is confidential, and together we will work in a collaborative way. The benefits of starting therapy include gaining a deeper understanding of oneself, developing coping strategies for managing stress and emotional challenges, improving communication skills, and fostering personal growth, ultimately leading to enhanced mental well-being and a better quality of life.
Relationship therapy, also known as marriage counseling or couples therapy, is a form of psychotherapy designed to help each person identify and work through concerns in their relationship. This includes working through the process of determining whether to move forward together, in separate directions, or somewhere in between. Relationship therapy provides a safe and structured environment for conflict resolution, and it can be beneficial for a wide range of issues, including communication problems, infidelity, financial stress, opening up the marriage, parenting disagreements, and life transitions.
Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on improving the relationships and communication among family members. It focuses on addressing specific issues affecting the family unit, such as conflicts, behavioral problems, or mental health conditions. By involving multiple family members in the therapeutic process, family therapy helps foster understanding and support, allowing families to work together to resolve their challenges, and in the process stretching and growing individually and as a family.
Co-parenting therapy is a specialized form of counseling designed to help separated or divorced parents and blended families navigate the challenges of raising children together. It focuses on improving communication, resolving conflict, and developing effective co-parenting plans that prioritize the well-being of the children involved. Co-parenting therapy provides a structured environment where parents can learn to work collaboratively, set boundaries, and address any issues that may arise in their parenting.
Where Legal Complexity Meets Human Understanding
Therapeutic supervised visitation (TSV) is a service provided for families who have been awarded supervised visitation by court order, or through mutual agreement and consent of the custodial and non-custodial parents/guardians. Using the highest level of supervision, TSV gives non-custodial parents the ability to see their child/ren while simultaneously complying with court orders, including OFPs, DANCOs, and HROs. Parents and children spend time together while being provided guidance, safety, and space to work on and develop healthy relationships.
Parent assessments are evaluations of a parent’s capacity and ability to meet the needs of their child/ren. They aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the parent’s strengths and growth areas regarding providing a safe, nurturing, and stable environment for the child/ren’s well-being and development.
